Our History

In the 1990s, the general consensus was that eLearning would continue to grow as a share of education and training. By the early 2000s, however, it became apparent that eLearning was not growing anywhere near as fast as people had expected. Michael Grant conducted some research to find out why. This research found that many of the so-called “barriers” to eLearning were essentially management failures related to weak strategy and poor eLearning design.

At the time, Michael’s lifelong friend, Rick Nigol, was managing a highly successful eLearning program at the University of Guelph. Michael and Rick were struck by the disparity between Michael’s research findings and Rick’s professional experience. They decided to do something to improve eLearning management.

Michael and Rick started eLearn Campus in 2002. Initially, we set out to help organizations with their eLearning programs in a consulting capacity. But our real vision was to develop organizations’ internal capacity to manage eLearning. This led us to develop our Certificate in eLearning Management program, which we have offered since 2004.

Today, eLearn Campus helps improve organizations’ eLearning management through teaching, coaching and a variety of customized solutions. We find that customized solutions offer the greatest potential for organizations to achieve results. Yet these solutions can involve some pre-consultation before we define the nature of those solutions. As such, Jon-Anthony Lui joined the eLearn Campus team in 2005 to help our clients work through the initial stages of solution definition.
